Our company, Barem Ambalaj, has been operating with an annual production capacity of 100,000 tons of printed carton packaging at its facilities in İzmir, Gaziantep, and Karaman, and five years ago decided to grow through vertical integration. At the investor meeting held on April 13, 2026, we publicly shared that an investment of USD 210 million had been made over the past three years, and that with additional investment to be completed in 2026 for the paper mill and power plant, we were targeting 2027 as the year of full integration and operational leverage. In line with this strategy, our priority has been to keep our financing costs under control while carrying out our operations, and to complete our Konya Ereğli Paper Mill together with its associated energy investment.
On May 25, 2026, our company generated TRY 118 million in cash by selling all of its previously repurchased 2,000,000 company shares at a price of TRY 59. The resulting gain of approximately TRY 34.9 million will be recognized under equity rather than in net income for the period.
On July 13, 2026, our shareholders Recep Taşyanar and Şenferiye Taşyanar will transfer the proceeds from the sale of a total of 20,000,000 shares — 10,000,000 shares each — to Barem Ambalaj for use in the Company's operations. This is intended to reduce our reliance on high-cost bank financing and to lower our future financing expenses.
As the energy investment approached its final stages, a temporary halt to the Paper Mill's operations was requested, since it will be connected to that investment. Taking market conditions into account as well, a decision was made on July 16, 2026 to temporarily suspend production at our Konya Ereğli Paper Mill for approximately three months. During this period, focus will be placed on commissioning the cogeneration facility, which will allow electricity and steam — among the most significant cost components of paper production — to be supplied more efficiently and at lower cost from within the company. The temporary halt applies solely to our Konya Ereğli Paper Mill; production and operations at our packaging plants in İzmir/Tire, Gaziantep, and Karaman continue without interruption. Once the cogeneration facility reaches full capacity by the end of 2026, total electricity expenses will be eliminated in both the packaging and paper segments, achieving full energy independence.
This large-scale investment program, which has been underway for approximately four years, has now reached its completion stage, and developments that strengthen our financial structure and complete our operational integration will continue to be shared with the public and our investors.
